The 4th Annual Inside Anne’s Closet Luncheon & Fashion Show, featuring celebrity athlete models representing San Francisco Bay Area sports, will take place on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at the Rosewood Sand Hill in Menlo Park, CA.

This annual event honors Event Chair John Paye’s (Stanford Hall of Fame Quarterback and former San Francisco 49er) mother Anne, who passed away in June 2013 at the age of 68 from colorectal cancer. Her loss inspired John to organize family and friends to become proactive, raising awareness about the need for colorectal cancer screening and to reach out to underserved communities. The mission of this event is to get this disease “out of the closet” and to encourage screening while increasing prevention awareness.

The second leading cause

Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer related death in the United States. More than 150,000 Americans will be diagnosed with the disease and nearly 50,000 will die in 2018 alone. In California, only 49% of people 50 years or older reported having a colonoscopy or sigmoidoscopy in the last five years, well below the national average of 62%. In lower income areas, the percentage rates are even lower.
