Six Ways to Support Patients This Giving Season

Last year alone, the Colorectal Cancer Alliance offered life-saving personalized screenings to more than 12,000 people, provided care to 167,000+ patients and their families, and invested $475,000 into critical research to help find a cure.

Help us do even more next year!

The end of the year is a great time to give. Plus, there are multiple pathways for giving. Below, we’ve listed six ways to help achieve your giving goals.

Online or check gifts

The simple and familiar method is to mail in a check or make a gift online. Please send checks to the Colorectal Cancer Alliance, 1025 Vermont Ave. NW, Suite 1066, Washington, DC 20005 or easily donate money on the Alliance website by clicking here. Checks should be postmarked by December 31 to receive credit on your taxes.

Stocks or securities gains

Taxes are often owed when stocks and securities gain in value but that may be avoidable by donating the gained portion to a nonprofit.

Crypto transfer

The Alliance accepts cryptocurrency! And, similar to stocks and securities gains, there may not be any “capital gains” tax on the increased value when donated to charity. Donate crypto to the Alliance here.

Workplace giving

Many companies offer “workplace giving” programs that deduct a gift donation amount directly from paychecks for recurring giving. Your company may even match a percentage–or the entire–gift amount. Check our website to see if your company is one of them, or check with your company’s human resources department.

IRA

Those 70 1⁄2 or older who have an Individual Retirement Account (IRA), may need to take required minimum distributions from their IRAs, which can be donated as a charitable contribution to the Colorectal Cancer Alliance. By doing so, the donor may be able to avoid paying taxes on this portion of their income and maximize the impact their charitable dollars will have.

Qualified charitable distributions of up to $100,000 can be made via direct transfer to the Alliance. Contact the Alliance to learn more about initiating this transfer, or for any supporting documentation. Make your contribution by December 31 to enjoy this tax benefit on your 2022 taxes.

Planned giving options

“Planned giving” options are charitable contributions included in a will, trust, insurance policies, and retirement plans and illustrate the intention to donate in the future, as opposed to specifically for this tax year. These vehicles provide a meaningful way to build a legacy and set a path to help the Alliance reach its mission to end colorectal cancer. For more information or to discuss planned giving at the Alliance, please contact plannedgiving@ccalliance.org.

Donating to worthy causes provides a great example to others, showing gratitude, compassion, and generosity in action. Incorporating philanthropic giving into the holiday season is a wonderful way to make a difference!

The Colorectal Cancer Alliance is a recognized nonprofit for tax purposes. The Alliance’s Tax Identification Number is 86-0947831.
