About the Undy Run/Walk

What is the Undy Run/Walk?

The Undy Run/Walk is a family-friendly underwear-themed run/walk created by the Colon Cancer Alliance. The event sparks vital conversations about colon cancer – the second leading cause of cancer death in the US – and raises funds and awareness to knock this cancer out.

Do you really mean underwear?

At the Undy Run/Walk, we’re drawing attention to colon cancer in a fun and exciting way. But if undies aren’t your thing, no sweat. Some participants sport their favorite pair of family-friendly undies, while others dress as Santa Claus, a superhero or simply as a runner. Whatever your style, you’re sparking lifesaving conversations and helping make colon cancer something people are comfortable talking about.

What is the distance of the Undy Run/Walk?

Most Undy Run/Walk events are a 5K, so approximately 3.1 miles. There is also a one mile fun run, which is untimed. People of all fitness levels attend the Undy Run/Walk; if you’re not up for a run, you can always jog or walk! The only exception to this rule is our Fort Lauderdale event. This event is a 2-mile run/walk.

Is the Undy Run/Walk a timed event?

Yes. The 5K is timed (unless otherwise noted) and there are medals for the top three finishers in each age group.

Registering / Signing Up

Can Survivors/Patients register for free?

New in 2016, Survivors and Patients can register for FREE. Email undy@ccalliance.org or call (202) 204-7561 to receive your free registration discount code.

What do survivors receive?

In addition to boxer shorts, patients and survivors receive a special survivor tee. We also hold a survivor ceremony where we honor current patients and survivors, and present them with a special medal.

My company/employer wants to pay for multiple registration fees. Is this possible?

Yes, of course! The easiest way to do this is to have a Colon Cancer Alliance staff member set up a discount code for your organization. This discount code can then be used while registering online, waiving all (or a part of) the registration fee. After the event, we will send an invoice to your employer. To set up a discount code, email undy@ccalliance.org.

What is the Virtual Participation Option?

The Virtual Participant option allows you to join a team, create a team or participate as an individual, from anywhere in the world and be an active part of the Undy Run/Walk by raising funds and awareness for colon cancer.

To register as a Virtual Participant, simply go to the Undy Run/Walk city specific page that you would like to participate in and select the “Join Us” button at the top of the page. Complete Step 1 by filling out all of your contact information. Next, complete Step 2 by selecting “Solo” (register as an individual), “Join Team” (register with an existing team), or “Create a team or register additional participants” (register a new team). In Step 3, complete required information. NOTE: In “Registration Type” drop down,  select Virtual Participant. Finally, complete Step 4 to process your registration.

This option includes:

        • A pair of 2017 Boxer shorts
        • Survivor t-shirt if registered as a survivor
        • Survivor medal if registered as a survivor
        • Memorial flag if indicated in registration process
        • Access to our online fundraising platform

I accidentally registered as an individual and meant to join a team. What do I do?

No worries! If you would like to be added to a team, simply send an email to undy@ccalliance.org with the name of the team you’d like to join.

Why does my bank account have pending charges to the Colon Cancer Alliance?

If the “complete registration” or the donate button was clicked more than once while making a payment, your account may have pending charges. However, only one charge will actually be processed and the remaining charges will be dropped. It takes some banks up to three days to remove incorrect pending charges. If you have a question about a charge, please contact your bank. If more than one charge was fully processed, please contact us at undy@ccalliance.org or
202-628-0123 x 128 and we will be happy to refund you for incorrect charges.

Can I register at the event and pay by credit card?

Yes, you can pay by credit card, cash or check at the event.

Is the registration fee included in my fundraising incentive total?

No, because of tax reasons, the registration fee is not included in your fundraising amount. Only donations made by you or made on your behalf are included in this total.

When do I get my boxer shorts and race bib?

Unless otherwise indicated on the city specific webpage, boxer shorts and race bibs/packets will be available for pick up race day starting an hour and a half before the start of the race. Check out your city’s page for more details.

What comes with my registration fee?

All participants receive a pair of Undy Run/Walk boxer shorts, light food and beverage and for our 5K participants, timing services.

When I try to register online, I keep getting an error message that I am "already registered."

This typically happens when a participant uses an email to register and then attempts to use the same email address to register a family member or friend. Please try using a different email address and you should be able to complete registration. If you still have trouble, please contact us at undy@ccalliance.org or (202) 628-0123 x 104.

Fundraising / Donating

Is there a fundraising minimum to participate in this event?

There is no fundraising minimum but remember – we can’t do this without your help! We encourage you to create a personal fundraising page and reach out to your friends and family. By reaching out to your connections, you are increasing awareness in your community and raising money to knock out colon cancer. How can I raise money?

When you sign up for the Undy Run/Walk, you will gain access to your own fundraising page that you can personalize with your story. Your participant center will allow you to upload e-mail addresses for your friends and family so you can communicate with them directly. Your participant center will also keep you updated when people donate to you, and help you send thank you notes, e-cards and updates. Visit our fundraising tips page for more ideas.

Can someone donate to me through the mail?

Yes. Download a mail-in donation form for the person who would like to donate through the mail. A link to this form is also located on your personal fundraising page.

What do I do if someone gives me cash or check in person?

Download a mail-in donation form and send the donations directly to Colon Cancer Alliance. This form is good for sending in a single donation. If you want to mail in multiple donations at a time, download and fill out this form. All checks should be made out to Colon Cancer Alliance.

Why am I receiving emails telling me that I’ve received a donation?

You are receiving these emails because we would like to keep you updated on your fundraising efforts. If you wish to stop receiving these updates, please login to your headquarters and edit your account preferences.

Where can I find a list of the people who have donated to me?

Log in with your email and password to visit your headquarters page. Select ‘My Fundraising Report’ on the left side. You will then find a list of all of your donors as well as a list of all donors to your team.

How can I send a thank you email to my donors?

To easily send thank-you emails to donors, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your fundraiser dashboard by clicking the “My HQ” link in the top right
  2. Click “My Fundraising Report” in the left sidebar
  3. Locate the donor/donation you’d like to thank, and click “Send Email” (If the donor didn’t submit their email address, this option is unavailable.)
  4. Type the message in the pop-up window, and click “Send Email”

Can a donor add a dedication message that appears in my fundraising honor roll?

When a donor makes a donation online, s/he can enter text to appear on the fundraising honor roll. This may be the donor’s name, or it could be something like “From the whole Wolf family” or “In Memory of Aunt Cathy”.

Are there fundraising incentives?

Yes! Please check out our list of fundraising incentives. If you raise $250 or more, you will receive an email 3-4 weeks after an event with information about how to order your incentive item(s) online. If you have not received an email, please check your spam folder. If you don’t get an email, please contact us at undy@ccalliance.org. How do I find a participant’s personal fundraising webpage?

Click on the home page and begin typing the first or last name. Your options will display as you type.

How quickly can I expect an online donation to post to a participant’s fundraising account?

Any donation made online should post immediately. If an online donation does not post within 5 minutes, please contact us.

How do I add a dedication when I make a donation?

When you make a donation online, you can designate what you want to appear as your recognition name on the participant’s Honor Roll. This may be your name, or it could be something such as “From the whole Wolf family” or “in memory of Aunt Cathy.”

What happens if I check the checkbox to "cover processing fees"?

If you check this checkbox, you will be charged the amount indicated next to the checkbox. This amount will also be visible to the non-profit. However, on the fundraising page, your intended – initial donation amount will be displayed.

Is my donation tax deductible?


How can I get a receipt for my donation?

If you donate online, you should print your email receipt and save it for your records. If you send in a donation by mail, a receipt will be mailed back to you after the event.

For Canadian donations made online with a credit card, will the amount entered be in U.S. dollars?

Yes. For Canadian donations made online with a credit card, the amount entered in the online donation form will be in U.S. dollars.

Where does the money go?

Money raised through the Undy Run/Walk supports:

    • National prevention, research and patient support services through the Colon Cancer Alliance
    • Local partners who provide colon cancer services in our Undy communities

What is Colon Cancer Alliance’s Tax ID number?

A Tax ID number identifies the Colon Cancer Alliance as a 501(c)(3) non-profit Organization. The Colon Cancer Alliance Tax ID number is 86-0947831

Event Day

Can I participate with a baby stroller?

Absolutely! This event is for all ages. You are never too young to start spreading awareness about colon cancer.

Can my dog participate?

Well-behaved, friendly, leashed dogs are welcome to participate in the Undy. Bonus if they’re wearing boxers!

What happens if it rains on event day?

We hold all events – rain, snow or shine! An event will only be canceled in extreme circumstances. If canceled, there will be no refunds and your registration fee will be considered a tax-deductible donation.

What happens if the Undy Run/Walk falls on a holiday?

Our number one goal is to honor colon cancer survivors and remember those we have lost while helping bring awareness to a disease that affects people of all races and religions. The Colon Cancer Alliance apologizes in advance if an Undy Run/Walk event takes place during a holiday. We do our best to avoid holidays, but cities have limited options of when and where an event can be held. Today, the Undy Run/Walk is held in many cities throughout the nation and we have to balance the needs of a particular city, as well as manage our national schedule. We thank you in advance for your support and appreciate your understanding.


Are race courses USATF certified?

Some courses are USATF certified, while others are not. Please check your particular city’s event page for this information. All 5K runs are timed.

Why am I not getting e-mail updates?

If you chose to opt-out of e-mails from us when you registered, you will not receive any updates or information about the race. E-mail us at undy@ccalliance.org if you would like to join the mailing list – we promise we won’t bombard you with messages.

Are there any cash prizes for top runners?

We want to make sure every dollar raised through the Undy goes toward moving our mission forward. So, there are no cash prizes. But, top finishers are awarded with medals!

Can I use Safari to edit and view my participant center?

Unfortunately, Safari does not support the participant center. If you are having trouble viewing items in your participant center, please try using Chrome, Firefox or Internet Explorer. If you are still having trouble, please email us at undy@ccalliance.org and we’ll be glad to help out.

I was unable to attend the event. Can I have a pair of boxers shipped to me?

Due to the cost of shipping, we do not send boxers out to participants after an event. If you are unable to attend, you may arrange to have someone pick up your boxers for you.

Can I get a refund?

We do not offer refunds for registration fees or donations.
