RunWalk Associate (Special Events Associate)
Are you looking for a meaningful job? Do you want to wake up each morning knowing the work you do will save lives and make a positive impact on those in need? Do you feel that your people skills and organizational abilities will allow you to lead teams of volunteers for a good cause? Then come join the Colorectal Cancer Alliance team as a RunWalk Associate!
The Colorectal Cancer Alliance is a national nonprofit organization committed to ending colorectal cancer within our lifetime. We help patients, families, survivors, and caregivers navigate diagnosis and treatment options, connect them with those who can share experiences and knowledge, and identify resources to meet their needs. We partner with healthcare professionals and social influencers to raise awareness of preventative screening, and we collaborate with researchers to better understand the disease and fund critical research. Our efforts are urgent, effective, and efficient because we believe that tomorrow can’t wait.
In order to support the important work of the Alliance, we developed the National Undy RunWalk series. Held in dozens of cities throughout the country, Undy RunWalks are family-friendly, undy-themed races that provide financial assistance and build community for patients, families, caregivers, and survivors. While each race is managed by a local volunteer committee, RunWalk Associates work closely with these volunteers to ensure they have the resources and support needed to hold an impactful event.
While the professionals on our development team will provide mentorship and training to the person who fills this position, the successful candidate will be able to quickly deliver value during their first year on the job through achieving the following goals:
Successfully manage the logistical execution of a portfolio of 5-7 races by working in close collaboration with Alliance staff and local volunteers.
Demonstrate the ability to engage with the community and cultivate volunteers so they can most effectively leverage their skills and networks in support of Alliance activities.
Provide outstanding customer service to volunteers and race participants to ensure a high quality experience that leads to continued participation in future events.
The funding raised through these events saves lives and improves the quality of life for patients and caregivers throughout the country, so it is critical that we find someone who can deliver results. We believe that previous experience in volunteer relationship building and customer service would best prepare someone to be successful in this role. We also believe that previous experience in managing the logistics of fundraising special events similar to our RunWalks with 100 or more participants would provide valuable insights into this work. However, if you don’t have that background yet feel you could make the case for how your experience has prepared you to achieve these goals, we’d like to hear from you. Interested candidates may apply by sending an email with a cover letter and resume to jobs@ccalliance(dot)org. Please include "RunWalk Associate" in the subject of the email.
This position requires travel to 7-10 RunWalks throughout the country and requires work on the weekends to support these events.
