Special Events RunWalk Intern

The Colorectal Cancer Alliance seeks a paid Special Events Intern to assist the Undy RunWalk team in fulfilling its mission of knocking colorectal cancer out of the top three cancer killers by championing prevention, funding cutting-edge research and providing the highest quality patient support services. The position is 24 – 26 hours per week and will work with the Undy RunWalk staff on enhancing the race series.

The Colorectal Cancer Alliance is a national organization committed to ending colorectal cancer within our lifetime. We help patients and families, survivors and caregivers, navigate their diagnosis and treatment, connecting them with those who can share experiences and knowledge, address concerns, and identify resources to meet their needs. We partner with healthcare professionals and social influencers to raise awareness of preventive screening, and we collaborate with researchers to better understand the disease and fund critical research. Our efforts are urgent, effective and efficient because we believe that tomorrow can’t wait.

Your Role in Our Mission

The Special Events RunWalk Intern will be instrumental in helping the Colorectal Cancer Alliance’s 5K RunWalk series continue to grow and succeed on a national level. The Colorectal Cancer Alliance is the nation’s leading colorectal cancer patient advocacy organization. The Special Events RunWalk intern will assist the Undy RunWalk team in a support capacity to address a broad range of needs and projects related to the series. The intern will be attentive to details, have excellent writing and communications skills, and be a motivated self-starter and a team player.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage inflow of email to general Undy email account
  • Manage Undy phone line and answer general Undy RunWalk questions
  • Secure day-of volunteers for each Undy RunWalk event
  • Support upcoming Undy RunWalk events by assisting in planning and general logistics
  • Research, solicit, and maintain in-kind sponsorships
  • Run Weekly Reports for Undy team staff meeting
  • Help fulfill event mailings
  • Maintain database inquires
  • Assist with general administrative tasks
  • Attend and assist staff at local events
  • Special projects as needed

Your Training and Skills

  • Candidates need equal measures of creative and critical thinking, passion and integrity
  • Must be available at least 24 hours/week for the entire academic semester

Other required skills & experience include

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Self-starter with excellent project management skills
  • Quick thinker with the flexibility to quickly and creatively problem solve
  • Collaborative work style to facilitate work across departments and teams
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Strong administrative skills

Preferred Skills

  • CRM software (ex. Salesforce)
  • Peer to Peer software (ex. Rallybound)
