Patient & Family Support Navigator & Screening Specialist

The Colorectal Cancer Alliance is a national nonprofit organization committed to ending colorectal cancer within our lifetime. We help patients, families, survivors, and caregivers navigate diagnosis and treatment options, connect them with those who can share experiences and knowledge, and identify resources to meet their needs. We partner with healthcare professionals and social influencers to raise awareness of preventative screening, and we collaborate with researchers to better understand the disease and fund critical research. Our efforts are urgent, effective, and efficient because we believe that tomorrow can’t wait.

To reach our ambitious goals, the Alliance must build and leverage partnerships with healthcare organizations, social support organizations, and other stakeholders. If we succeed, the Alliance can more effectively scale the impact of its programs through existing reach into communities, especially those communities facing health disparities in colorectal cancer diagnoses and outcomes.

The Alliance is seeking a Patient & Family Support Navigator and Screening Specialist to join our Patient & Family Support team.

Goals the successful applicant will need to achieve over the course of the first year include:

  • Responding to Helpline calls with compassion, health-related information, resources, and referral services for individuals seeking screening or cancer support.
  • Facilitating appropriate education, psychosocial support, and other comments to generate conversation and support in the Alliance’s online communities, website chat, and group discussions.
  • Serving as the organization’s primary screening navigator to move those who are contemplating screening and need live support to complete the at-home test or colonoscopy.
  • For applicable programs, schedule appointments directly for interested individuals through direct access to the medical institutions' scheduling system.
  • Navigate a caseload of constituents who are identified as benefiting from ongoing follow-up and support throughout their screening, treatment, or survivorship experience.
  • Keep abreast of the latest screening and treatment advances and best practices to support screening, treatment, and side effect management.
  • Occasional travel to conferences and events representing the Colorectal Cancer Alliance.

Required qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of professional work experience in nonprofit or healthcare settings.
  • Knowledge of the cancer landscape and challenges faced by patients and families.
  • Compassion, patience, and excellent communications skills.
  • Strong proficiency in Google, Microsoft Office, and other common software platforms.
