Annual Fund Manager

The Alliance is seeking a talented and hardworking individual to lead our annual fundraising efforts as the Annual Fund Manager in the Development Department at the Colorectal Cancer Alliance.

The Colorectal Cancer Alliance is a national organization committed to ending colorectal cancer within our lifetime. We help patients and families, survivors and caregivers, navigate their diagnosis and treatment, connecting them with who can share experiences and knowledge, address concerns, and identify resources to meet their needs. We partner with healthcare professionals and social influencers to raise awareness of preventative screening, and we collaborate with researchers to better understand the disease and fund critical research.  Our efforts are urgent, effective and efficient because we believe that tomorrow can’t wait.

Job Duties

  • Coordinate all aspects of the following campaigns: Annual Fund, #GivingTuesday, End of Year appeal. This includes online and offline appeals and coordinating with the Development, Marketing/Communication, and Information Technology departments on theme, strategy, goals, mailing lists, appeal content, campaign execution and the tracking of each campaign’s success.

  • Manage a comprehensive annual fund program of acquisition, renewals and upgrades through both direct mail, digital appeals and personal solicitation.

  • Manage the vendor hired to execute on direct response tactics.

  • Build a strong sustainer program by identifying and soliciting monthly donations through the Compassion Partner Society.

  • Coordinate the tracking of donations from individuals who give more than $250 for personalized thank you notes from the appropriate staff member.

  • In conjunction with the Director of Individual Giving and Major Gift Officer/s, identify potential major donors who donate through giving campaigns, compile research and set meetings for senior leadership to meet with prospects.

  • Support the Director of Individual Giving with the budget process and set goals and financial projections. Report monthly on both revenue and expense budgets, donor moves and metrics, and gifts received and expected. Coordinate efforts and processing for all Board meetings, tracking revenue and projections to ensure that goals are met.

  • Maintain and update the content for the fundraising sections of the website.

  • Develop strategies, in conjunction with the Special Events team, to help elevate event-based donors to individual givers with sustained support of the organization.

  • Persuasively convey the Colorectal Cancer Alliance vision, mission and story.

  • Provide leadership to create a culture of philanthropy through the entire organization.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

In the performance of their respective tasks and duties, all employees of the organization are expected to fulfill the following:

  • Gain a general understanding of colon cancer prevention and treatment and be an advocate for the Colorectal Cancer Alliance and its mission.

  • Perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision.

  • Interact professionally with other employees, constituents and vendors.

  • Work effectively as a team contributor on all assignments.

  • Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations.


  • B.A. or B.S degree required.

  • A minimum of four years of progressive development experience including individual giving and/or major gift development.

  • Excellent writing and communication skills.

  • Strong research, analytical, planning and organizational skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.) and experience with fundraising database software and social networking platforms preferred.

  • Driven to succeed and enjoy working in a fast-paced, highly dynamic environment with a proven ability to work independently, exercise professional judgement and discretion.

  • Team oriented, flexible, creative, positive, personable and eager to learn.

  • This position will require occasional travel.

  • Salary commensurate with experience.
