Corporate & Foundation Giving Intern

The Colorectal Cancer Alliance seeks a part-time (minimum 24 hours/week, up to 32 hours/week), paid intern to assist our growing organization in fulfilling its mission. The Corporate & Foundation Giving Intern will work with the Corporate & Foundation Giving Team assisting with prospect research, cause marketing and other tasks in an effort to enhance overall fundraising efforts.

The Colorectal Cancer Alliance is a national organization committed to ending colorectal cancer within our lifetime. We help patients and families, survivors and caregivers, navigate their diagnosis and treatment, connecting them with those who can share experiences and knowledge, address concerns, and identify resources to meet their needs. We partner with healthcare professionals and social influencers to raise awareness of preventative screening, and we collaborate with researchers to better understand the disease and fund critical research. Our efforts are urgent, effective and efficient because we believe that tomorrow can’t wait.

Position Purpose

The Corporate & Foundation Giving Intern supports the corporate and foundation giving team in its efforts to secure funding to support the mission of the Colorectal Cancer Alliance. The Corporate & Foundation Giving Intern is a critical member of the Development Department and directly contributes to the effort to achieve ambitious fundraising goals.

Job Duties

  • Proactively researches corporations and foundations and provides updates to the Corporate & Foundation Giving Team on partnership leads.

  • Prepares materials for grant applications.

  • Maintains and updates pharmaceutical pipeline database and presents monthly updates to the Corporate & Foundation Giving Director.

  • Coordinates cause marketing partnership screening and qualification efforts.

  • Performs basic data entry and ongoing database maintenance in Salesforce Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.

  • Provides support to the Director of Corporate & Foundation Giving managing calendars, tracking expenses and preparing meeting agendas.

  • Manages the partner thank you note process for the Director of Corporate & Foundation Giving.

  • Performs all other duties as required.

Performance Expectations

In the performance of their respective tasks and duties, all employees of the organization are expected to fulfill the following:

  • Gain a general understanding of colorectal cancer research, prevention and treatment; be an advocate for the Colorectal Cancer Alliance and its mission.

  • Perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision.

  • Interact professionally with other employees, constituents, medical professionals, and vendors.

  • Work effectively as a team contributor on all assignments.

  • Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations.

Qualifications

  • This position is available as a spring internship with a strong preference for someone who can continue through the following academic year.

  • B.A./B.S. degree or degree seeker.

  • Interest and experience in nonprofit development desired.

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suite.

  • Knowledge of Salesforce strongly preferred.

  • Excellent writing and organizational skills.

  • Proficient project management skills.

  • Driven to succeed and enjoys working in a fast-paced, highly dynamic environment with a proven ability to work independently, exercise professional judgement and discretion.

  • Team oriented, flexible, creative, positive, personable, and eager to learn.

Position Type

Part-time: Must be available for a minimum of 24 hours/week. Strong preference given to candidates able to work 32 hours/week.
