Special Events Coordinator
Are you looking for a meaningful job? Do you want to wake up each morning knowing the work you do will save lives and make a positive impact on those in need? Do you feel that your people skills and organizational abilities will allow you to lead teams of volunteers for a good cause? Then come join the Colorectal Cancer Alliance team as a Special Events Coordinator!
The Colorectal Cancer Alliance is a national nonprofit organization committed to ending colorectal cancer within our lifetime. We help patients, families, survivors, and caregivers navigate diagnosis and treatment options, connect them with those who can share experiences and knowledge, and identify resources to meet their needs. We partner with healthcare professionals and social influencers to raise awareness of preventative screening, and we collaborate with researchers to better understand the disease and fund critical research. Our efforts are urgent, effective, and efficient because we believe that tomorrow can’t wait.
In order to support the important work of the Alliance, we conduct fundraising special events throughout the country. The overwhelmingly positive reception of the community to our Blue Hope Bash series has led to rapid growth in the number of these galas, and we are looking for a Special Events Coordinator to help us manage these exciting new fundraising opportunities.
While the professionals on our development team will provide mentorship and training to the person who fills this position, the successful candidate will be able to quickly deliver value during their first year on the job through achieving the following goals:
- Successfully manage the execution of up to two special event galas by working in close collaboration with Alliance staff and host city volunteers.
- Demonstrate the ability to engage with the community and cultivate volunteers so they can most effectively leverage their skills and networks in support of Alliance activities.
- Develop as an outward facing representative of the Alliance who will be able to steward and support their own personal portfolio of donors and volunteers.
- Learn from the experiences of the first year to take on a more independent role and increased responsibility in their second year on the job.
The funding raised through these events saves lives and improves the quality of life for patients and caregivers throughout the country, so it is critical that we find someone who can deliver results. We believe that previous experience in relationship building and individual donor stewardship would best prepare someone to be successful in this role. We also believe that previous experience in managing fundraising special events would provide valuable insights into this work. However, if you don’t have that background yet feel you could make the case for how your experience has prepared you to achieve these goals, we’d like to hear from you. Interested candidates may apply by sending an email with a cover letter and resume to jobs@ccalliance(dot)org. Please include "Special Events Coordinator" in the subject of the email.
Some travel is required for this position based on the needs of the Alliance.
