Special Events Fundraiser

The Alliance is seeking a talented and hardworking individual to join the Special Events team as the Coordinator of Special Events in the Development Department at the Colorectal Cancer Alliance.

The Colorectal Cancer Alliance is a national organization committed to ending colorectal cancer within our lifetime. We help patients and families, survivors and caregivers, navigate their diagnosis and treatment, connecting them with those who can share experiences and knowledge, address concerns, and identify resources to meet their needs. We partner with healthcare professionals and social influencers to raise awareness of preventative screening, and we collaborate with researchers to better understand the disease and fund critical research. Our efforts are urgent, effective and efficient because we believe that tomorrow can’t wait.

Position Purpose

The Coordinator of Special Events plays a critical role in the team’s efforts to grow and expand the Blue Hope Bash Gala Series and successfully execute other signature fundraising events. The Coordinator of Special Events is a critical member of the Special Events Team and Development Department and directly contributes to the effort to achieve ambitious fundraising goals.

Job Duties

  • Manage and grow a portfolio of Blue Hope Bash galas in cities across the country.

  • Provide logistical, fundraising and strategic support to the volunteer organizers of these Blue Hope Bash galas.

  • Maintain the databases of donors for each Bash including, but not limited to, up-to-date contact information, logistical details, revenue results and recognition efforts.

  • Steward all Blue Hope Bash volunteer committee members in their roles in an effort to deepen their commitment to the Alliance, increase their fundraising impact and extend their affinity for future fundraising.

  • Manage the Blue Hope Bash DC co-chairs on planning successful live and silent auctions including item solicitation, tracking and inputting auction data into the auction software programs.

  • Create and maintain a portfolio of individual donors.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Performance Expectations

  • Be an advocate for the Colorectal Cancer Alliance and its mission by gaining a general understanding of colorectal cancer research, prevention and treatment.

  • Interact professionally with other employees, constituents, medical professionals, and vendors.

  • Work effectively as a team contributor on all assignments.

  • Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • A minimum of 1-2 years of development experience including volunteer-led, event-based fundraising.

  • Experience with relationship building and individual donor stewardship.

  • Experience in logistical event planning is preferred.

  • Strong writing skills.

  • Well organized with strong administrative expertise and outstanding attention to detail.

  • A strong customer service orientation with the capability to interact with both  internal and external stakeholders through verbal and written communication.

  • Driven to succeed and enjoy working in a fast-paced, highly dynamic environment.

  • Able to work independently, exercise professional judgement and discretion.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, team oriented, flexible, creative, positive, personable, and eager to learn.

Some travel is required for this position based on the needs of the Alliance.
