Assistant Director of Development
Are you looking for a meaningful job? Do you want to wake up each morning knowing the work you do will save lives or make a positive impact on those in need? Then come join the Colorectal Cancer Alliance team!
The Colorectal Cancer Alliance is a national nonprofit organization committed to ending colorectal cancer within our lifetime. We help patients, families, survivors, and caregivers navigate diagnosis and treatment options, connect them with those who can share experiences and knowledge, and identify resources to meet their needs. We partner with healthcare professionals and social influencers to raise awareness of preventative screening, and we collaborate with researchers to better understand the disease and fund critical research. Our efforts are urgent, effective, and efficient because we believe that tomorrow can’t wait.
March Forth is a critical program of the Colorectal Cancer Alliance which focuses resources in geographic areas across the country to shine a light on the importance of preventing colorectal cancer. Starting first in Philadelphia, March Forth offers a four-pronged strategy to improve colorectal cancer screening rates to at least 80% of eligible individuals. Implementing this massive outreach campaign aimed at patients, physicians, and the systems they navigate, will result in upwards of an additional 100,000 individuals screened annually, saving hundreds of lives.
The Assistant Director of Development will play a critical role in meeting the two-year goal to raise $5 million for March Forth Philadelphia and a five-year goal to raise $100 million for the Alliance as part of a large-scale mission campaign. Some goals the successful applicant will need to achieve over the course of the first year include:
Cultivate, solicit and steward gifts of $10,000 or more from individual, corporate and foundation donors with a particular focus on the Philadelphia market.
Work collaboratively with the Vice President of Prevention to identify the March Forth programmatic initiatives in need of funding and to determine if specific giving initiatives meet the programmatic objectives of the Alliance.
Maintain a portfolio of between 100 and 150 major donor prospects who are at various stages of their relationship with the Alliance.
Work collaboratively with other CCA departments when appropriate to cultivate relationships with survivors, family members, and other stakeholders in order to engage the community around fundraising opportunities for March Forth.
It is not an understatement to say that this position will be part of a team responsible for saving thousands of lives and improving countless more. The urgency of the situation due to the 1.4 million people in the US that have this disease requires that we find someone who can deliver results immediately. We believe a proven record of accomplishment in identifying and qualifying major donors, as well as soliciting and closing gifts of $10,000 or more from individuals, companies and foundations is essential for someone to be successful in this role. If you have that experience, we’d like to hear from you! Interested candidates may apply by sending an email with a cover letter and resume to jobs@ccalliance(dot)org.
