This past June, genetic information company Invitae sent out a survey to gauge awareness about genetics and cancer. In response to their findings, Invitae is launching their public awareness campaign to encourage people to know their family history, talk with a clinician and consider genetic testing.
The program, which launches on September 21, will begin with people sharing personal stories on Invitae's Facebook page. Share your stories to inform, inspire and empower people to understand their genetic risk of colon cancer. These stories can be anything from stories of survivorship, to advice, to experience with genetics and genetic testing.
Want to participate? It’s easy! To share your story, send your name and information to laura.dangelo@invitae.com. Invitae will provide writing and posting support, so it’s no more effort than trading an email or two.
By sharing your story through Invitae's campaign, you’ll be eligible to receive a free donated Invitae genetic test. Inviate will be providing ten donated tests to a select group of participants who choose to share their story. (All Invitae tests must be ordered by a clinician.) Let your voice be heard!
