Bowling for a Best Life in Charleston Each year, a crowd of colon cancer awareness supporters take over the lanes at a North Charleston, South Carolina bowling alley to take a shot at having a perfect game and to raise funds for the Colon Cancer Alliance. Stellar volunteers Darian Elliot, his mom Pam and his brothers have organized this event for the last four years in memory of their loving father, Tony Elliot, who passed away from colon cancer in 2011. It was Tony's son Darian who is an avid bowler himself, that came up with the idea to host the fundraiser to raise awareness and make sure no other family goes through what their family went through. To date, the Elliot family have raised more than $15,000! Tony Elliot was an avid sports fan and athlete, as well as a caring father and community member. He helped coach his three sons, Travis, Nicholas and Darian, in baseball and football. Later in life, Tony came to love bowling and participating in community bowling leagues. Tony could often be found at his favorite bowling alleys before and during his treatment—making a huge, positive impact on the local bowling community. Bowling This year’s fundraiser was held in late July at Sandpiper Lanes in North Charleston and was the Elliot family's most successful yet. Participants enjoyed a day of bowling, vendors from the local community and raffles that all contributed to the $4,000 raised for our Blue Hope Financial Assistance program. Thanks to the Elliot family and their team of organizers, Tony’s friends and family were able to celebrate his life and help others fighting colon cancer while participating in his favorite activity. We can’t wait to see what they have planned for next year and we can’t thank them enough for their incredible efforts!
