About Me:
Voices Of Iowa was established in the fall of 2003. We are dedicated to reducing the pain and suffering of Iowa residents caused by colorectal cancer.
A very important moment for me, was when a women called me 4 months after my first newspaper article. The article was about the mayor making a proclamation for the month of March. It also mentioned my father and my efforts. This woman called to thank me because after reading the article, she asked her doctor for colon cancer screening. She had no symptoms, but decided she should do it. A large cancerous tumor was found and removed. No chemotherapy or radiation was required. At that moment an enormous feeling came over me. I knew I had to continue to promote colorectal cancer awareness and that my one voice made a difference! - Natalie Porter, Coordinator of Voices of Iowa
