About Me:
My interest in colorectal cancer results from the intersection of my private and professional lives. I am a physician and attorney whose medical practice over the years has included the treatment and care of numerous cancer patients, many of whom are undergoing treatment for colorectal cancer. Then, in 1999, my father was diagnosed on routine colonoscopy with colorectal cancer. Having undergone a full year of treatment including surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy, my father, now six years out from diagnosis, continues to do well with no sign of recurrence, for which we are eternally grateful. My journey with this disease, both as a physician and as a daughter, has instilled in me a strong belief in the value of awareness, education, early diagnosis, and adequate treatment for colorectal cancer. It has also convinced me that together, we can indeed make a difference. I am very excited about working with the Colon Cancer Alliance's Voices Campaign, and I am hopeful that the newly formed Voices of Southern Georgia Chapter will carry on the Colon Cancer Alliance's fine work in our own South Georgia neighborhoods and communities. I am also grateful to have the opportunity to be a part of that worthwhile mission. I extend a sincere invitation for any interested individuals to contact me as we together decide how best to reach our common goals of beating this insidious disease and improving the lives of those it touches. - Rhonda Moorman, Coordinator of Voices of Southern Georgia
