For many people with colorectal cancer (CRC), coping with the emotional and physical challenges of the disease is the most difficult life event they will ever face. Having a strong support network of family, friends and caregivers is critical when going through the ups and downs that accompany treatment and recovery. The Colon Cancer Alliance (CCA) developed the Roots of Support in CRC program to help people with CRC and their loved ones fight the disease together, through outreach, communication and education.

Just as planting a tree symbolizes hope for the future, the Roots of Support in CRC tree logo was designed to represent hope for those whose lives have been touched by CRC. The tree represents the strength and resilience of people living with CRC; growth in understanding all aspects of the disease and its treatment; and the importance of support from loved ones in the battle against the disease. |

The blue star logo, developed by the National Colorectal Cancer Roundtable (NCCRT), has been adopted by nearly all of the major groups in the CRC community, symbolizing their united commitment to preventing, treating and finding a cure for CRC. The star represents the eternal memory of people whose lives have been lost to CRC, and the shining hope for a future free of the disease. The star is merged with a ribbon for awareness and assumes a human shape. |
