The American Cancer Society, with offices nationwide, has a variety of services for cancer patients and their families and friends. Through the Ostomy Rehabilitation Program, Look Good...Feel Better, What About Me? and I Can Cope, they provide direct assistance to patients and their families, who need help with the physical and emotional problems they face. Also available are a variety of pamphlets, brochures and booklets providing information. Materials are available in Spanish and Chinese in addition to English.
Cancer and Careers is dedicated to empowering and educating people with cancer to thrive in their workplace by providing expert advice, interactive tools and educational events. Through a comprehensive website, free publications, career coaching, and a series of support groups and educational seminars for employees with cancer and their healthcare providers and coworkers, Cancer and Careers strives to eliminate fear and uncertainty for working people with cancer.
Cancer Care Inc. is a nonprofit social service agency that assists families and patients in coping with the emotional, psychological, and financial consequences of cancer. It has a toll-free counseling line and teleconference programs providing assistance to individuals and families. Information about cancer and treatment, financial counseling, financial assistance and referrals to other support services are also available.

Healthcare 411 is a resource in both English and Spanish created by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ). It aims to be a multimedia “one-stop resource” site for consumer and health care provider organizations. It contains the very latest health care news and research findings via videos, articles, podcasts and more on a variety of health topics.
Know Cancer is dedicated to connecting, educating and empowering all people affected by the many forms of cancer. Through the power of knowledge and collective wisdom we will help people to prevent, endure and survive cancer. Our current focus is KnowCancer.com, an online community that provides social and professional support to patients and their loved ones.
The National Institutes of Health Cancer Information Service/PDQ provides a nationwide telephone service with specially trained personnel who can provide up-to-date, understandable information about cancer. Their offices serve specific geographic areas and can provide information about services available in each area. They offer a wide variety of free publications, many in both Spanish and English, including What You Need to Know about Cancer of the Colon and Rectum. They can also provide a list of cancer centers and information about clinical trials.

Peer Support Network
PSN provides a free online community/social network in which newly diagnosed cancer patients, cancer survivors and their caregivers coping with the emotional and physical challenges of a cancer diagnosis can find peer support from others that have undergone similar experiences. Users are able to create personal profiles, share stories and photos, and find others with like situations.
Right Test Right Time
Depending on the results of the biomarker testing, your doctor can select the right treatment for your specific cancer and avoid exposure to medicines that are not likely to be effective against your cancer. Genentech recently launched a new website, www.RightTestRightTime.org, that helps explain what biomarkers and diagnostic tests are and what patients, whether they are newly diagnosed or have had a recurrence, should ask their healthcare team.
