Ethicon Endo-Surgery donates $25K to the CCA
Ethicon Endo-Surgery donated $25,125 for patient advocacy as part of Connect for a Colorectal Cause.
To demonstrate their ongoing commitment to patient care, Ethicon Endo-Surgery (EES) provided a unique opportunity for surgeons to help support patients while connecting with them at their EES exhibit booth during the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons (ASCRS) convention. Over half of the 1,200 surgeon attendees participated in Connect for a Colorectal Cause by completing a card asking a few questions related to EES and submitting it at the booth. For each card submitted, EES made a donation to the Colon Cancer Alliance (CCA). These cards represented a thank you to these surgeons for improving the lives of patients with colon disease. This activity generated excitement with surgeons as well as EES associates at the booth. Surgeons provided many positive comments on the activity while they were connecting with EES. “I think this is great!” was a typical comment.
EES chose to offer this opportunity for surgeons to join EES and CCA in helping patients. In challenging economic times, patient advocacy organizations relying on donations can be affected. Surgeons felt EES’ strong commitment to patient care, and respected the company’s decision to allocate resources towards supporting patient advocacy.
The CCA provides resources, information and patient support through first-hand experience of survivors and others whose lives have been touched by this disease. EES has partnered with CCA most recently for their Undy 5000 -- a brief run for colorectal cancer events across the country, as well as the Earn a Blue Star Campaign in the past.
