Team Britton – A Hole in One
After their fantastic success in 2012, Team Britton “tee’d” up another victory with their second annual Team Britton Golf Tournamentin 2013. The dinner, silent auction and golf tournament raised awareness about colon cancer and celebrated Britton Butler’s life.
Diagnosed with colon cancer at age 22, Britton was fortunate to have a strong support system of friends and family, as well as a comprehensive insurance program. However, he recognized that not everyone had the same resources he did. Britton decided that he wanted to raise money and awareness for colon cancer and promote the importance of getting screened early by hosting a golf tournament.
Sadly, Britton passed away before his vision of a golf tournament came to fruition. But his friends and family carried out his wishes and have created one of the most spectacular events Knoxville, Tennessee has seen. In their second year, Team Britton raised $7,500 to support the Colon Cancer Alliance’s Blue Hope Financial Assistance Program, which provides one-time grants to those in active treatment for colon cancer. With that contribution, the Colon Cancer Alliance was able to provide support to twenty-five individuals and families battling colon cancer.
The Colon Cancer Alliance thanks Team Britton for their unwavering dedication to raising awareness about colon cancer and for the tremendous support they give to families in need.
