Florida for Colon Cancer Awareness 5K
What do 8-year-olds, 88-year-olds and dogs have in common? In March, they all got off their rumps to raise colon cancer awareness by running a 5K in the Sunshine State (Florida, of course!) The fifth-annual Florida for Colon Cancer Awareness 5K, hosted by the Debby Hudson Colon Cancer Foundation, reminded participants that colon cancer can be prevented and cured if detected early.
This year’s race saw 251 participants, including colon cancer survivors, their families and friends. The hot topic of conversation: screening, prevention and how a simple test can literally save your life. Scope It Out was a huge success, raising awareness and generating $3,000 to support the Colon Cancer Alliance’s Blue Note Fund, which provides one-time grants to those in active treatment for colon cancer.
The Colon Cancer Alliance is grateful for the continuous support of the Debby Hudson Colon Cancer Foundation and their commitment to Scope It Out to promote cancer screenings.
