Cities Go Blue for Colon Cancer

The CCA is working with cities throughout the nation to host Cities Go Blue for Colon Cancer with the ultimate goal of all 50 states supporting the campaign in the years ahead. Events held in selected cities will vary but will include both educational and entertaining events held in conjunction with the Colon Cancer Alliance and community partners.
"The purpose of the nationwide Cities Go Blue for Colon Cancer campaign is to promote awareness about colorectal cancer, by encouraging people to get screened and providing information and support to survivors and caregivers," says Andrew Spiegel, CEO of the CCA.
The Colon Cancer Alliance's local chapters and ambassadors will spearhead the weekend of activities by asking the local businesses, governmental agencies and religious institutions to help turn their city blue. Over the course of a typical City Goes Blue weekend, local awareness and fundraising events will be held, participating restaurants will serve "blue plate" specials, offices will be asked to illuminate their buildings with blue lights, and blue ribbons will be displayed throughout the city.
